I've Never Regretted Owning (or Wearing) These 4 Chic Jewellery Pieces

Yes, I am absolutely one of those fashion people who isn’t finished getting ready until the jewellery is on and the perfume is spritzed. On the rare occasion I have stepped into the world without wearing a pair of earrings, I have felt practically naked—jewellery is that important to my routine and style DNA. At the end of the working day, my three-year-old son knows that it’s time for me to switch into “mum mode” when I take off (or when he tells me to take off) my earrings.

As a certified magpie, I have a collection full of unusual things—vintage finds, eclectic designer buys, trending high-street pieces—but it’s my elevated everyday jewellery that really deserves a shoutout, because wearing it 24/7 means it’s worth paying extra attention to, and probably spending a little more money on. I’ve regretted more whimsical random accessories purchases, but never these reliable pillars of my jewellery collection.

One trusted brand that I’ve been coming back to time and again for over a decade is Missoma. The London-based jewellery label founded by Marisa Horden (a woman of impeccable taste) has perfected the art of staple jewellery that still manages to be interesting—no pair of hoops is just a plain old pair of hoops, no chain link is your average, no colour combination of demi-fine stones is anything but intricately considered. You may know the brand for its insanely popular collaboration with Lucy Williams, or the ultra-pretty creations Harris Reed has designed, or perhaps you’ve been collecting its pieces from the start (like me). Meanwhile, the brand’s efforts towards a more sustainable jewellery proposition may have attracted the attentions of those looking to more consciously add to their forever wardrobes. All of these merits make the brand an interesting one, and what I appreciate it for is high-quality, long-lasting jewellery essentials that I know I’ll wear on repeat for many, many years to come—the most sensible shopping method of all. Below, I highlight the jewellery styles that I always return to, and still enjoy wearing regularly.

On Hannah: Missoma x Lucy Williams Entwine Hoop Earrings (£115). I genuinely don’t know where I’d be without my ridiculously large collection of gold hoops! Small to jumbo, plain to elaborate, they are the frosting to every outfit, the final touch I will never forget.

On Hannah: Missoma x Harris Reed In Good Hands Chunky Beaded Necklace (£189). My ultra-glamorous grandma always had a great pair of earrings on, even when she was very ill towards the end of her life. Matching jewellery sets (a trend from her youth) aren’t something you’ll be able to buy everywhere, but I think it’s so timeless and elegant (not to mention fuss-free).

On Hannah: Missoma x Lucy Williams Byzantine Coin Pendant Necklace (£135). Jumbo jewellery is all well and good, but there’s something so personalised and special about layering up smaller pieces to create your own mood. Chain necklaces with interesting links are always a go-to for me, and I like to mix ‘n’ match brands, eras and styles.

I love a bangle, but bangles do not love my five-days-a-week desk job! They clang against the keyboard like nothing else, and I quickly have to whip them off. Instead, I’ve started relying on a delicate stack of unique gold bracelets. They still provide that flourish but without the faff.
