New details are emerging about a lawsuit against Coldplay after they were sued by their former manager.
Last month we learned that the bandmembers – frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion – were named in the lawsuit, which was filed by Dave Holmes. However, little else was known about the situation.

Variety broke the initial news in August and provided an update on Friday (September 1).
According to court documents filed in the United Kingdom, Dave is seeking roughly $12 million from the band for unpaid fees. He alleges that their contract promised him a cut of sales from the group’s still unreleased tenth and eleventh albums.
Dave further claims that the band tried to change his title from manager to head of touring, which would have been a demotion. He worked with Coldplay for more than 20 years.
Variety noted that the band might respond with their own “significant counterclaim.”
When news of the lawsuit first broke, Coldplay confirmed that they had parted ways with Dave in 2022.
“Dave Holmes successfully managed Coldplay for more than 22 years, steering them to be one of the most successful bands in music history,” the manager’s lawyer Phil Sherrell told Variety. “Now, as the legal case shows, Coldplay is refusing to honor Dave’s management contract and pay him what he is owed.”
The band has not yet issued a response.
