It’s official – Jonathan Bailey is heading to Jurassic World!
During an appearance on The Tonight Show on Monday (May 13), the 36-year-old Bridgerton and Fellow Travelers actor confirmed that he will be playing a leading role in the upcoming Jurassic World movie.
The announcement comes one day after Jonathan teased a role in the movie while sharing a photo on Instagram of himself on an empty roller coaster while on a private tour of the Jurassic Park theme park in Orlando. Along with the photo, Jonathan wrote in the caption, “Hold onto your butts. 🦕”
Keep reading to find out more…“I was obsessed with the Jurassic World ride, and [the tour guide] must have thought it was a bit weird, but we went around once and then, at the end of it, he said, ‘Do you want to go on your own?’ And I was like, ‘…Yeah,’” Jonathan recalled on The Tonight Show. “So we did it and I gave him a printout of [the photo].”
Jonathan said that he then left a personalized message on the image of him on the ride, which he gave to the tour guide.
“I did write on the back. I said, ‘Just keep this. It’s a memory,’” Jonathan told the tour guide.
“Because we have a little news we can share tonight,” host Jimmy Fallon chimed in. “You’re going to be starring as lead in the new Jurassic World movie. Congratulations, bud!”
After thanking Jimmy, Jonathan admitted that he was “freaking out” a bit on the inside.
“[The photo is] dated the 9th of April, so I’ve sort of sat with the secret for a month and a bit,” Jonathan confessed. “I mean it’s mind-blowing and it’s brilliant. I remember going to see Jurassic Park with my family.”
He continued, “It’s history and it’s the John Williams score. It’s [Steven] Spielberg. I have got nightmares for sort of 30 years, so now my nightmare has come true.”
According to reports, this will be a completely new take on the Jurassic franchise, marking the second “reboot,” following the OG Jurassic Park movies and the more recent Jurassic World features – 2022′s Jurassic World Dominion, 2018′s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and 2015′s Jurassic World.
None of the past stars are expected to return.
