Respiree, Roche announces AI integration for RPM

Singaporean startup Respiree has tied up with global pharmaceutical and diagnostics company Roche for technology integration.

Respiree will be combining its vital sign monitoring device with Roche’s blood glucose device as a joint bedside offering. The solution is also expected to be integrated with machine learning models that predict clinical deterioration based on historical data and provide risk scores. 

The combined solution will allow users to register patients to Respiree’s connected devices, monitor historical data and potential deterioration, and measure both vital signs and blood sugar. Clinical note annotation is also an expected feature.

According to a press release, they will introduce the solution as part of pilot programmes across Asia-Pacific next year.


Japan approves Korean AI-based ECG monitoring system

The Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Agency in Japan has approved a continuous ECG monitoring system by the Korean company iRhythm Technologies. 

iRhythm’s 14-day ECG monitoring system called Zio consists of a prescription ECG patch monitor and the AI-powered ZEUS software system that generates end-of-wear reports. The company claims that its AI can classify a broad range of arrhythmias with diagnostic performance comparable to cardiologists. 

The Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare is currently reviewing the ECG monitoring system for reimbursement. Simultaneously, iRhythm is trying to secure a potential distribution partner in the country.


KAHP to deploy AI in health screening services

The Korea Association of Health Promotion (KAHP) is utilising an AI-powered solution from local startup Medical IP to screen patients for various major diseases.

Medical IP will be supplying its CT-based body composition analysis solution DeepCatch to KAHP’s 17 health examination services in South Korea. The AI software quantifies and analyses skin, bones, muscles, subcutaneous and visceral fat, and internal organs on CT images. It then generates an automatic report comparing an individual’s results with average values for their age and gender group.

KAHP intends to leverage the AI solution to help identify patients’ risk of developing non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular conditions, obesity, and sarcopenia.


$2M seed funding for cloud-based pharma supply chain software in India

AltiusHub, provider of a pharma-focused supply chain visibility software, has reportedly received $2.25 million in a seed funding round led by Endiya Partners.

Established in 2023, the startup offers cloud-based solutions for serialisation track and trace and warehouse management. It aims to prevent counterfeit medicines from entering the supply chain.

Based on a press release, AltiusHub plans to use the proceeds of its fundraising to hire senior talents and strengthen its engineering team.
