‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,’ ‘Don’t Move’ Score on VOD, Netflix

Two films shared top spots on VOD charts. The newly released “Transformers One” (Paramount) leads at Fandango (which ranks by revenue), while “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (Warner Bros.) in its third week returned to #1 at iTunes (calculating by transactions). Both films rent for $19.99.

Netflix continues its string of originals placing first on its top 10 movie list (briefly interrupted by “Bad Boys Ride or Die”), with “Don’t Move” (a horror/thriller with Sam Raimi as one of the producers) taking over the #1 spot.

“The Wild Robot” (Universal), still the #3 film in theaters this weekend, placed second on both charts (it was #1 once during the week at iTunes). “Transformers One” is fourth at iTunes, though it was #1 initially earlier in the week. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is #3 at Fandango.

Now in its second week, “Alien: Romulus” (Disney), renting at an unusually high $24.99 (as are “The Wild Robot” and “Deadpool & Wolverine”), dropped #5 at Fandango and #7 at iTunes.

Otherwise, changes are minor on the VOD lists. “Deadpool & Wolverine” (Disney) is third at Fandango, fourth at iTunes. “Longlegs” (Neon) rebounds with its lower $5.99 rental cost (#5 at iTunes, #6 at Fandango despite its price).

“Reagan” (Showbiz Direct) held on at #10 on both, lower than its first week. “Classified” (Saban), a Bulgarian-made action thriller with Aaron Eckhart, went direct-to-home viewing ($9.99 rental), #9 at iTunes.

“Don’t Move,” which stars Kelsey Asbille (“Fargo”) and Finn Wittrock, replaced Anna Kendrick’s “Woman of the Hour,” another original, at #1. It centers on a grieving mother who is injected with a body movement-limiting drug by a serial killer. “Family Pack,” a Netflix French-produced, Czech-filmed fantasy, is #6. “Hijack ’93” from Nigeria at #8 and the second week of “Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare” at #9 make five overall original titles.

Their top studio titles this week are “The Secret Life of Pets” (#3), “Sing” (#4), and “Kung Fu Panda” (#5), all part of their licensing deal for Universal animated library films.
