Andy Cohen Defends New Cast of ‘Real Housewives of New York City,’ Says ‘They’re Fun to Watch’ | Andy Cohen, Real Housewives of New York City | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

Andy Cohen is sticking up for the new cast of The Real Housewives of New York City.

If you didn’t know, Bravo decided to reboot the hit franchise for season 14 and got rid of all the past cast members to bring in a new group of ladies, including Brynn Whitfield, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Ubah Hassan, Sai De Silva and Racquel Chevremont.

As season 15 is currently airing, there has been a lot of criticism from viewers that they don’t like this group anymore.

In a new interview, Andy, 56, said that there are “a lot of interesting personal stories with the women in the new New York.”

Keep reading to find out more…“I think the group dynamic is a little bit of a challenge this season,” Andy told Deadline. “I think the rap on the group in Season 1 was, ‘Oh, there’s not a lot of history there.’ The interesting thing about them this season is they hang out a lot and they are a cohesive group.”

He continued, “I really believe in this group of women. I think they’re very aspirational. I think they’re fun to watch. I think the clothes and the window into a different kind of New York is all what we wanted it to be.”

Andy then reflected on the past RHONY cast, which includes stars over the years like Ramona Singer, Bethenny Frankel, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, and Dorinda Medley.

“We had 13 great seasons, plus a Girls Trip with that group of women, which is an incredible accomplishment,” Andy shared. “A lot changed, a lot shifted in [their] world and in life — Sonja is now living in Florida, Ramona basically lives in Florida. Things have shifted.”

“So with this group of RHONY, we’re kind of looking to the future with them,” he added. “I loved the original, but this is a new group.”

Over the summer, Andy explained why The Real Housewives of New Jersey is also getting a “reboot.”

New episodes of RHONY air on Tuesday nights on Bravo.
