The popular NBC football drama is the latest series is said to have a reboot in the works, and it is with the original show’s producers, Deadline reports.

Creator Pete Berg, showrunner Jason Katims and executive producer Brian Grazer are said to be developing a new iteration of the award-winning series, which will bring a whole new story in the same vein of high school football.

The potential reboot would have new characters and is currently in the early stages at this point.

Based on the book by H.G. Bissinger and the 2004 Tim McGraw-starring movie, the NBC series took place in the fictional town of Dillon in rural west Texas, following a high school football team led by Coach Eric Taylor, played by Kyle Chandler.

Also starring in the series were Connie Britton, Taylor Kinney, Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki, Jurnee Smollett, Michael B Jordan and Matt Lauria.

Kyle won the 2011 Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role on the show, while Jason Katims won an Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series Emmy that same year.

Back in 2021, Connie Britton shared her thoughts on a possible reboot, and in 2022, Taylor Kinney revealed if he would do a reboot.
