There’s a theory floating around that Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked are really gay and in love with each other… and the cast is reacting!
Cynthia Erivo spoke to the fan theories about Elphaba and Ariana Grande commented on Glinda possibly being “in the closet.” Kristin Chenoweth, who was the original Glinda on Broadway, even chimed in to share her thoughts.
It all started during an interview with Gay Times. The outlet asked Cynthia and Ariana for their thoughts on fans rooting for the female leads to end up together.
“I think Elphie, she goes wherever the wind blows,” Cynthia said. “I think she loves Glinda. I think she loves love. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with celebrating the deep connection that both of them have.”
She continued, “They do have a real relationship. It is true love, which is probably why people are shipping it, you know? Because what they build with each other is an unbreakable bond and love.”
