Lady Gaga is going to streaming and joining one of the biggest shows in Netflix history. Gaga is joining Jenna Ortega in the cast of “Wednesday” Season 2, IndieWire has learned. Her character details are being kept under wraps, though it’s expected that the role is more of a cameo. Gaga is currently in Europe filming for the series.
Netflix and Gaga’s reps declined to comment.
Production on Season 2 kicked off in Ireland back in May, with Netflix announcing that Steve Buscemi had joined the show as a series regular, as did Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor.
“Wednesday” Season 2 will also feature Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, Joanna Lumley, Frances O’Connor, and Joonas Suotamo all as guest stars. Lloyd in particular appeared in 1991’s “The Addams Family” film. Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo were also all bumped up to series regulars after appearing in the first season.
Ortega told EW back in 2023 that she liked the idea of seeing Gaga join the “Wednesday” cast, and Gaga herself stoked some curiosity when she shared a TikTok of herself recreating Ortega’s “Wednesday” dance to the tune of her own song “Bloody Mary” after TikTokkers started splicing together the song with the “Wednesday” dance scene.
Gaga most recently appeared in “Joker: Folie á Deux,” but she’s also working on a new album due out for release in February and released her most recently single “Disease” last month.
Ortega has further teased that the new season of “Wednesday,” which brings director Tim Burton back into the fold, leans further into the horror elements and has episodes that each feel like a mini-movie. “Wednesday” Season 1 remains the most-watched English-language show in Netflix history, behind only “Squid Game” for the most views of any show.
EW first reported Gaga’s casting news.
