Luigi Mangione has officially been charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
The 26-year-old former Ivy League student is the suspect in the murder and he was arrested on Monday (December 9) while eating at a McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
An employee at the McD’s is being called a hero for recognizing Luigi from the photos released of the alleged killer. Officials say that he was carrying multiple fake IDs and a 3-D printed gun at the time of the arrest. He also had a manifesto in his possession, which contained his thoughts on the health care industry.
Altoona Deputy Chief of Police Derek Swope said that when Luigi was asked if he was in New York recently, he started shaking. “And that really invoked a physical reaction from the suspect. He became visibly nervous, kind of shaking at that question. And he didn’t really answer it directly,” he said.
The photo here was taken in Luigi‘s holding cell after being taken into custody in Pennsylvania on Monday.

We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved. We are devastated by this news,” the family said.
