As fall turns into winter, network TV takes a hiatus — leaving fans to grapple with some major cliffhangers for the small screen’s biggest shows until the new year.
Warning: Spoilers below from several different TV series’ fall finales.
That was the case for Chicago Med, which aired its fall finale on November 20. During the last few minutes of the episode viewers saw a bloodied Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) make a run for the elevator doors, only for them to close right after Dr. Archer (Steven Weber) saw her being attacked.
Freshman series Doctor Odyssey provided fans with a very different kind of cliffhanger after Avery (Phillipa Soo) revealed that her threesome with Max (Joshua Jackson) and Tristan (Sean Teale) resulted in an unexpected pregnancy.
“I was quite surprised, actually. But of course, coming from our fearless leader, Ryan Murphy, I was very trusting in how this would all unfold,” Soo told TV Insider in November. “I was actually really delighted by it because I think it’s the kind of relationship that we haven’t seen yet on procedural television.”
Fall TV is looking a little different with shows like Found, Chicago Fire and FBI: International going through casting shakeups. Rescue HI-Surf also ended 2024 with a dose of sexual tension and drama after new lifeguards Kainalu (Alex Aiono) and Hina (Zoe Cipres) hooked up before the credits rolled. Their steamy sex scene wasn’t the only romance highlighted in the finale, either.
