The Bachelor‘s Matt James and his girlfriend (and winner of his season) Rachael Kirkconnell have broken up.
If you don’t know, Matt, 33, made history as the first Black bachelor in the show’s history and his season ended in scandal when Rachael, 28, received backlash for resurfaced photos from an antebellum-themed party. They temporarily split after the season aired in early 2021, but got back together by May of that year.

On Instagram on Thursday (January 16), Matt posted on Instagram, “Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts. Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding. Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord 💔.”
Matt and Rachael became a fan favorite couple over the years with their TikTok food tours. They previously addressed if they’d ever get engaged.
