Although the premise is already more enjoyable than some other real estate shows, what makes My Lottery Dream Home great is David Bromstad, who ensures that every home buyer is comfortable and having fun. And he is no stranger to design and home renovation, having won the first season of Design Star and participating in Rock the Block, a show with many other renovation and design talents like Mina Starsiak Hawk of Good Bones and Alison Victoria of Windy City Rehab. Bromstad can find exactly what each buyer wants, and the homes are always beautiful and full of character. Other than being able to show each buyer real estate, Bromstad finds a connection with each guest. Most people on My Lottery Dream Home did not plan on having a sudden increase in funds, and Bromstad makes sure to listen to each story, many bringing a tear to the eye. In the first episode of the current season, Bromstad helps out a mother and son as they buy a lakefront property after the woman’s husband passed away. She told Bromstad that although she was inconsolable after her husband died, the only thing that was calming through those early days was watching My Lottery Dream Home, which touched the host. David Bromstad brings genuine care to My Lottery Dream Home.
Whereas many HGTV shows have people looking to buy mansions and complaining when not every tiny detail is perfect, My Lottery Dream Home has grateful, lovely people who are happy that they get a chance at stability.
