Phil Collins is an eight-time Grammy-Award-winning drummer and singer, renowned for his solo career and time in English rock band Genesis, but his entire family has found ways to make it in entertainment as well.
Phil has five kids, sharing adoptive daughter Joely Collins and son Simon with his first wife, Andrea Bertorelli, daughter Lily with second wife Jill Tavelman, and sons Nic and Matthew with third wife Orianne Cevey. All five have carved out careers in music, acting or sports.
After decades behind the drum set, Phil revealed in the December 2024 documentary Phil Collins: Drummer First that his health would keep him from performing on the drums any further. His family, meanwhile, has stuck by him as he deals with the “shock” of the physical toll a career of drumming has taken.
Nicolas Collins, Phil’s second son, helped produce the documentary, which detailed the injuries that came as a result of Phil’s performing.
“Musicians, people in bands in general had this thought that they were invincible,” Nic explained in the film. “I think that’s really what it is with my dad is just this kind of sense of you’re a drummer, you’re invincible, you do what you do. But you don’t know it’s gonna take a toll in the long run.”
Nic himself has carried on the family tradition of playing the drums, even performing with his father on tour with Genesis (Phil continues to perform as lead singer of the band).

June Collins
Phil’s mother, June, was an agent credited with discovering English actors Jack Wild (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) and Keith Chegwin (Shaun of the Dead). She died in 2011 at age 98.

Greville Collins
Phil’s father, Greville, was an agent for the London Assurance Company. As Phil wrote in his 2016 memoir, Not Dead Yet, he was “not a particularly obvious heartthrob or lady’s man,” joking that he “clearly” got his looks from his mother. Greville died in 1972 at age 65.
Clive Collins
Phil’s brother, Clive, was a cartoonist, satirist and illustrator who appeared in publications ranging from Reader’s Digest to Playboy.
In 2012, he became a Member of the Order of the British Empire at a Buckingham Palace ceremony.
“He’s won cartoonist of the year. I shared a bedroom with him when we were boys and he was always drawing,” Phil recalled at the ceremony. “He used to do Christmas cards and birthday cards for the family.”
Clive died in 2022 at age 80.

Carole Collins
Phil’s sister, Carole, was a professional ice skater before following in their mother’s footsteps and becoming an agent.
Lily Collins
Lily got her start as an actress at age 2 on BBC sitcom Growing Pains. She later appeared in such films as The Blind Side and Inheritance before landing her breakout role as the titular character on the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris, which premiered in 2020.
Lily opened up about her strained relationship with her father growing up in her 2017 memoir, Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me.
“Because my dad was often gone, I never wanted to do anything that would make him stay away even longer,” she wrote. “I became extra careful about what I said and how I said it, afraid he’d think I was angry or didn’t love him. And the truth is, I was angry. I missed him and wanted him there.”
Today, the two share a closer bond. On Fathers Day 2024, Lily penned a heartfelt note to her dad via Instagram.
“I’m sending more hugs to you than ever and I’m beyond grateful for you today and every day,” she wrote. “My words won’t be able to do it justice but… you know. I love you to the moon and back again.”
Joely Collins
Phil legally adopted daughter Joely when he married Bertorelli in 1975.
She studied acting in both her home city of Vancouver and in London, and has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows. She won the award for Best Actress in a Canadian Film at the 2004 Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards for her role in Canadian drama The Love Crimes of Gillian Guess.
She married Stefan Buitelaar in 2008 and the couple share daughter Zoë Amelie.
Zoë Amelie
Phil’s only grandchild, Zoë, was born in 2009.

Simon Collins
Like his dad, Simon is a drummer and former lead vocalist for prog rock band Sound of Contact.
Simon has released four studio albums, including 2008’s U-Catastrophe, which features both Phil and former Genesis member Steve Hackett on one track each.
Nicolas Collins
Nic has been drumming since he was two years old. By the time he was 15, he was playing on stage with his dad on his Not Dead Yet tour. In 2023, his band, The Effect, released its debut single “Unwanted.” The Effect also features Trev Lukather, son of Toto guitarist Steve Lukather.
Matthew Collins

Matthew is an aspiring soccer player, currently playing with Austrian club WSG Tirol. After Matthew made headlines in a 3-0 loss to Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich, his coach Manuel Ludwiger admitted they signed him without knowing who his father was.
“We Google the players we take on trial to find out about their past careers,” he told the Daily Mail. “It was only then that we found out Matthew is Phil Collins’ son…We haven’t signed him as a publicity stunt. It is purely down to his footballing ability.”
Phil himself conceded that even though Matt loves music, “he loves [soccer] even more.”
