Featuring an installation designed by studio Piovenefabi, it will be held in the Design Platform space in the Museo del Design Italiano dedicated to key topics and figures in contemporary design.
The exhibit is an in-depth exploration of Franco Raggi, architect, designer, and intellectual. Active on both the Italian and international scene for over half a century, he participated in the activities of the Radical Design groups and collaborated with Studio Alchimia. The exhibition is divided into key chapters of Raggi’s work in the fields of product design, exhibition installation, interiors, drawing, and publishing, with a particular focus on architecture’s role in society.
It also showcases a selection of objects, projects, drawings, and films describing Raggi’s life and career as well as placing particular emphasis on his numerous interactions with Triennale Milano, beginning in 1973, when he participated in the 15th edition of the International Exhibition.
The exhibition design, conceived by the Piovenefabi studio, is an experimental exploration of design display, like all the exhibits held in the Triennale Design Platform. Visitors begin their journey in a caravan, which takes them to a large tent illustrating the multifaceted career of Franco Raggi through his work as an architect and designer. There is a paneled structure containing a series of photographs dedicated to his work with space, including buildings and interior design projects, and a section with various objects, including lamps, chairs, and furnishing accessories. There is also a section devoted to his magazine work with a selection of covers for “Casabella” and “MODO”, along with drawings, notebooks, and extracts from his vast body of writing. Lastly, there is a section with his drawings illustrating many of his graphic experiments. Also on display is his 1974 Tenda Rossa.
The exhibition is completed by a section containing images of installations, happenings, and exhibits, including several held at the Triennale. There will also be a screening of a previously unreleased film by Francesca Molteni, in which Franco Raggi shares his story in his own words.
