The 97th annual Oscars ceremony is almost here.
The 2025 Academy Awards will take place Sunday, March 2 at 7pm E.T. — yes, earlier than usual — at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Conan O’Brien will make his Oscar hosting debut with the ceremony.
And 2025 is a monumental moment in the almost century-old awards show: It’s the first time in history that the Oscars will be streaming live. This year’s show will be available on Hulu starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, in conjunction with ABC channels airing the broadcast. There will also be a livestream on the Academy social pages, as well as streaming via Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV.
It was previously announced that Selena Gomez, Oprah Winfrey, Ben Stiller, Sterling K. Brown, Willem Dafoe, Ana de Armas, Lily-Rose Depp, Goldie Hawn, Connie Nielsen, Joe Alwyn, Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Amy Poehler, June Squibb, Bowen Yang, Dave Bautista, Harrison Ford, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Zoe Saldaña, and Rachel Zegler are among the presenters. Last year’s winners Robert Downey Jr., Cillian Murphy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Emma Stone will also take part in presenting this year.
Oscar executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan told IndieWire that host O’Brien additionally has a few surprises in store for audiences.
“Conan is going to be the perfect host, because what Conan has is this gift to be able to react on the spot to everything that is happening in that room. For us, his gift of improv, his gift of quick wit, is going to be unparalleled,” Kapoor said. “Every time he walks into our room and we are able to spend some time with him, he constantly comes up with fresh ideas, reacts to what’s being said, what happens in the moment. We will see a lot of that on this show. Conan will be very present, and anything that happens live, expect Conan to acknowledge [it].”
The Best Picture Oscar race is among the most competitive categories, with predicted winner Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” against Jacques Audiard’s “Emilia Pérez,” which had the most nominations at 13 nods. Jon M. Chu’s “Wicked,” Sean Baker’s “Anora,” Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two,” Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance,” Edward Berger’s “Conclave,” James Mangold’s “A Complete Unknown,” Walter Salles’ “I’m Still Here,” and RaMell Ross’ “Nickel Boys” are also in the running for Best Picture.
The 2025 Academy Awards airs live Sunday, March 2 at 7pm E.T. on ABC and Hulu.
