The Studio is well worth your time, Ross Bonaime said in his review: The humor is smart and informed, the cast and guests are great, and it all comes together in a way that’ll have you hoping for a second season. Nate Richard praised Death of a Unicorn, saying: [The film] is a delight; a clever, sharp-horned, and violent horror-comedy that demands to be seen on the big screen with an audience. James Mangold creates a musical biopic that isn’t brought down by the frequent tropes of the genre.
In the early 1960s, 19-year-old Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet) arrived in New York with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. Forming his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement, making a controversial choice that reverberates worldwide.
Ross Bonaime revealed what fans can expect from the biopic: A Complete Unknown manages to thread the line beautifully, presenting an enigmatic artistic figure in a direct way that doesn’t feel monotonous, while also giving the audience a greater appreciation for the music at hand. It all works to give us a film that also includes one of the year’s best performances in Chalamet, along with a tremendous supporting cast.
