George appeared on 60 Minutes to discuss the Broadway production of Good Night, and Good Luck, based on his 2005 film.
In the play, he portrays CBS broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow, who confronts U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy amid his pursuit of alleged Communists in the early ’50s.
In the interview, George used the opportunity to speak out against the current state of the government and its relationship with the media.
“We’re seeing this idea of using government to scare or fine or use corporations—to make journalists smaller,” he said.
If you didn’t see, President Donald Trump had some strong words to say regarding the interview.
