The White Lotus resort chain should be known for its body count as much as for the luxury at this point.
Season 3 of the HBO series is finally starting to add suspicion to a number of the guests staying at the Thailand location. Some suspects already hold some real likelihood – here’s looking at you Greg and Rick – while others are just giving slightly off energy.
There’s a shooter walking among the many people staying at the wellness resort, and these are the most likely to be the one with the gun when the season finale rolls around in a couple weeks.
Greg/Gary
Greg (Jon Gries) — or Gary depending on when you met him — is the only person in the orbit of the upcoming shooting with blood on his hands. It’s already a known fact, at least to “The White Lotus” fans, that he arranged Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) death so he could inherit her money. What is he willing to do to keep that secret hidden now that Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) has clocked him from his stay at the Maui White Lotus? If there’s someone to be worried about, for the third season in a row it’s Greg. — Jacob Bryant
Rick
The list of potential “White Lotus” killers this season is long (see: this article), but only one character has so far expressed a desire for revenge/violence of any kind, and that’s Rick (Walton Goggins). He has made his vendetta against resort co-owner Jim Hollinger (Scott Glenn) very clear. Combine that with certain references to his shady past, and Rick just seems, well, extremely suspicious. So, while it wouldn’t be the most surprising twist for him to be the man behind this season’s shooting, Rick has done more than enough to warrant his place on this list. — Alex Welch
The Robbers
Since its second episode, there have been no more robberies in “The White Lotus” Season 3. It would be really weird, though, if there isn’t at least one more break-in or robbery attempt this season, and that seems like an easy inciting incident for a shootout. If you, like myself, also believe that Valentin’s (Arnas Fedaravicius) newly introduced Russian buddies, Aleksei (Julian Kostov) and Vlad (Yuri Kolokolnikov), are the masked robbers who assaulted Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) in Episode 2, then the odds of them having something to do with this season’s violent climax only seem even more likely. — AW
Gaitok
Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) exudes Nice Guy energy. Which can either be a sweet and wholesome thing or a real problem. It’s no surprise at this point Gaitok is harboring a Grade A crush on Mook (Lisa) and is ready to lock it down. He wants to get a promotion to bodyguard to prove himself to her. Could he end up waving around a gun on the resort in his pursuit of that? Maybe by stepping in with the White Lotus robbers as a way to earn some clout and respect? It’s all possible. Don’t let Gaitok’s sweetie energy distract you. — JB
Lochlan
The entire Ratliff family is a nightmare to behold, and on paper Lochlan (Sam Nivola) seems like the most innocent of the bunch. That exterior could be harboring a quiet, anxious kid ready to snap at any moment. There are plenty of reasons for him to turn on his brother or even his parents, but after Episode 4 saw his sister Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) reveal she was planning to move to Thailand he seemed personally offended. Those feelings of abandonment could lead the kid to make a rash decision. — JB
Victoria
Victoria (Parker Posey) doesn’t exactly scream “gun-wielding murderer.” She is, however, very judgmental and very paranoid, which are two qualities that form a dangerous combination in a show like “The White Lotus.” Considering her family’s life is (unbeknownst to her) about to take a sharp downward turn, her becoming a bit unhinged and violent doesn’t seem like an impossibility. Plus, what’s she going to do now that her husband has stolen all the pills that supposedly help keep her so calm and relaxed? — AW
Tim
Like Rick, Tim (Jason Isaacs) is a bit of an obvious pick at this point, but obvious does not equal wrong. The killer of “The White Lotus” Season 1 did, after all, turn out to be the guy who had been an unrepentant, hot-headed dirtbag the whole time. And Tim did just steal a gun and state explicitly that he’d rather die than go to jail. Him doing something stupid with that gun feels like an inevitability. His eventual mistake being responsible for the shooting that starts “The White Lotus” Season 3 just seems a bit less likely right now, at least compared to the other possible outcomes and suspects on this list. — AW
