Elon Musk and Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly butted heads during a Trump cabinet meeting last week, and “The View” host Ana Navarro has a theory that Rubio himself might’ve tipped reporters off to that fact.
To kick off the day’s Hot Topics, the ABC hosts started by discussing Musk’s current standing in Trump’s second administration, with host Alyssa Farah Griffin noting that she’s always believed that the Trump-Musk relationship would suffer the same fate as a SpaceX rocket.
But the hosts largely focused on recent reports that Musk is clashing with members of Trump’s cabinet — namely Rubio. And, after Navarro saw the former senator in Miami over the weekend at the funeral for Lincoln Díaz-Balart, which she praised him for attending, the host is pretty convinced the leak came from Rubio’s camp.
“I actually have this theory, where I actually think Marco and his team may have leaked this story,” Navarro said. “Because I think it’s been so difficult to be Secretary of State under Trump. The things that are happening are things that Marco has advocated against his entire career.”
Navarro specifically cited abandoning Ukraine, Trump’s handling of tensions in Venezuela and more as circumstances that Rubio has been forced to accept.
“As Secretary of State of Trump, and not being able to stand up to Trump, I think [Rubio] looks very feckless, ineffective, and hypocritical with every belief he’s ever held in his entire life,” Navarro said. “So I think this, standing up against Musk, you know, gives him something, something at least to hold onto.”
“Because the truth is, unlike some of the other cabinet members, Marco doesn’t have a pot to piss in,” she continued. “And he’s given up his senate seat. So he’s in a bind.”
Host Sunny Hostin chimed in at that, agreeing Rubio is “in a pickle,” and agreed that Navarro’s theory is “probably accurate,” considering the leaks about cabinet meetings would have to come from inside the room.
