Two cast members from “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” the Oscar-winning film by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, recently passed away – Waymond Lee, who died in December, and Biff Wiff, who died just last month. They played minor characters in the movie – Wiff is seen as one of the customers at Evelyn’s (Michelle Yeoh) laundromat and Lee pops up throughout “Everything Everywhere All At Once” – but their outsized personalities definitely made an impression and added to the lovely, intoxicating stew that was the movie.
Kwan and Scheinert wanted to remember and honor their collaborators, so they sent TheWrap their thoughts on the actors.

On Lee: Waymond Lee first worked with us on an award-winning Foster the People music video in 2011. He notoriously answered every LA casting post he had time for. We loved him. He was hyper and strange and passionate and one of a kind. We cast him in the background or foreground of every music video or short film we could for years. Then gave him a lead role in a short film of ours, “Interesting Ball.” Then we gave him a re-occurring background role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” You can spot him in hundreds of shots throughout the film. Workshiping the bagel. Sitting with Michelle. And you may have noticed we named Ke Quan’s character after him. Our future films won’t be the same without him. He will be missed.
On Wiff: Bill Wiff memorably played Evelyn’s favorite/least favorite customer at the laundromat in “Everything Everywhere All At Once.” He hustled as an actor for decades and finally had a series of big breaks right at the end of his life, becoming an icon in the alt comedy world for playing Santa in “I Think You Should Leave.” He also, obviously, has the best name ever. Any in memoriam list is lucky to have a name like that. Biff was a passionate, lovely, hardworking collaborator. It was a treat to have him with us for our whole laundromat portion of the film which audiences know is the heart of our movie. We have his perfume bottle grenade on display at our office which will always remind us of him. He will be missed.
The Daniels are currently working on a new feature for Universal.
