Man Utd predicted lineup vs Leeds

26 Manchester United players have made the trip to Norway to kick off the club’s pre-season fixture list against Leeds on Wednesday.

Most senior stars have been left at home for this one, giving Erik ten Hag the chance to get a closer look at some academy gems, but there are still some senior players along for the ride.

Here’s how Ten Hag could set up for this summer opener.

Amad Diallo

GK: Tom Heaton – The first game without David de Gea will likely be started by veteran Heaton, but United are working in the background to have Andre Onana available as a new number one soon.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – A solid end to the season from Wan-Bissaka should be rewarded with some minutes here.

CB: Raphael Varane – Two senior centre-backs have travelled to Oslo and Varane is likely to be the one to start.

CB: Will Fish – Lisandro Martinez is back from injury and will likely take the place of Varane after the break, giving young Fish another chance to make a name for himself.

LB: Alvaro Fernandez – Handed a new shirt number, 20-year-old Fernandez is highly rated and will be relishing the opportunity to impress Ten Hag.

DM: Fred – There’s plenty of talk about his future at the club but Fred is one of the few senior midfielders to actually make the trip.

DM: Kobbie Mainoo – Mason Mount is in line to make his unofficial debut but fans should be equally as excited about what the future holds for young Mainoo, already with three first-team games under his belt. The 18-year-old is among the brighest gems in the academy.

RM: Amad Diallo – An impressive loan spell with Sunderland last season has set the Ivorian up for a fascinating pre-season as he stakes his claim for a place at Old Trafford.

AM: Isak Hansen-Aaroen – The tattooed teenager is another bursting with potential and this limited squad should see him handed plenty of minuted.

LM: Jadon Sancho – Providing some seniority in attack should be Sancho, who is in far better shape than an unfortunate wind-swept screenshot online has suggested.

ST: Joe Hugill – Hugill bagged 11 goals in 12 PL2 games last season for the Under-23s and will hope to be back among the goals this summer.
